Hello
I wonder if you could give me some advice ..My daughters laptop made a crackling sound and then what looked like smoke came out of the side .We quickly turned it off and have not turned it back on since ….

We have had a few people phone up informing us they have had a call from Microsoft and wanting to login to their computers and asking for money. This is a SCAM, under no circumstances must you let them login. if you are uncertain ask them to call back and call us first.
my DVD drive has started to stop reading some of my DVD games. i have used a cotton bud to lightly clean the lens. the disks are clean and work on other laptops. after the disk is put in the drive and closed, after a (long) while it just pops back open saying please put a disk in the drive.
any help would be great

Hi Ben thanks for your question. you can try a good lens cleaner yu can buy these from Rayleigh HiFi in town or any good electrical store. You should run this though the drive approx 3 times. If this does not fix the drive bring it into the workshop, we have a box of used drives that may fit. Hope this helps Roy
I am unable to access the Internet by wireless.
Hi Thanks for you question, hopefully others will benefit from this resource. First thing to check is the router, are all the lights on, if you are unsure switch off wait 10 secs and turn on. Next check that you have not disabled the wireless feature on your laptop, sometime there is a switch on others there the function keys can turn this off. Hope this helps.
